Green Goodness Smoothie Bowl

Updated: Mar 17, 2021

You won't want to miss trying this recipe. It's going to bring luck and fortune to your life by fuelling you from the inside out and it will truly leave you glowing.

Ingredients: (all organic if possible)

1 serving

-1 large frozen ripe banana

-large handful mixed greens (spinach, kale, chard etc)

- 1 Serving Spirulina (1 TBSP) - we always use Spiraveg brand

-1/4 cup frozen pineapple

-1/4 cup frozen cauliflower (we used riced cauliflower)

-1 TBSP chia seeds

-1 TBSP ground flax seeds

- 1 TBSP hemp seeds

-2/3-3/4 cup unsweetened plant based milk

Directions:

Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender! We used our Vitamix and mixed frequently. For a smoothie bowl you want a thicker consistency than a smoothie.

Pour thick smoothie mixture into your favourite bowl.

We topped with kiwi fruit and made if fun for St. Patricks day but you could top with any of your favourite smoothie bowl toppings ie berries, bananas, raw nuts, drizzle of nut butter etc.

Enjoy!!

Note: This isn't a super sweet smoothie and we like that. You could add a scoop of vanilla plant based protein powder vs the seeds but we were feeling the whole food ingredients in this one. (add more plant based milk as needed if adding protein powder as the consistency may vary)

Why we love this:

Amazing for skin, hair and nail health! One big reason for this is the spirulina! This is something we try to get into our diets on a daily basis. This smoothie bowl is just one of the ways it's easy to do so. Spirulina truly is a superfood in that it packs such a nutrition punch in such a small dosage. It helps fight oxidative damage to keep our skin cells plump and looking their best. The amino acids, essential fatty acids, vitamin A and beta-carotene in spirulina make it amazing for hair health and growth. It is 70% protein and this high content helps with nail health. Check out our blog on spirulina for more reasons why we love this superfood so much.

Great way to get your veggies in you! At any meal we think how can we level up this meal and add more fibre and phytonutrients and an easy way to do this is we veggies.

Simple. No excuses not to make and enjoy on a regular basis. This whole food, plant based smoothie bowl promotes longevity and fuels you at a cellular level.

Big love,

Allison
