Maca love chocolates (makes 12 approx 1 TBSP size chocolates, we love to make them in heart shape molds)
3/4 cup dairy free chocolate chips or one 80-100g bar (we used Lily’s brand, which is sweetened with stevia) the higher the cacao content the more nutritional value (we tested this with 55% to 85% cacao .. definitely bitter the higher you go so be mindful of that)
1TBSP coconut oil
1 TBSP gelatinous maca powder (see below about sourcing)
3 TBSP pomegranate seeds (preferably organic, you can use fresh or frozen)
Directions:
Place chocolate, coconut oil and maca in microwave safe dish, heat at 20-25 second intervals, stirring each time until everything is melted (approx 90 seconds)
Portion the chocolate into the molds. You may have a little chocolate left over depending on your molds or how many you actually want to make.. which isn’t a bad thing, enjoy it, even let your significant other lick it off the spoon :) Top with approx 6-8 pomegranate seeds.
Freeze minimum 45 minutes then enjoy! Alone or with a loved one.
Why we love these:
Maca! It is a root that originates from Peru.
It has been found to be quite the aphrodisiac and fertility booster. Thus, why we love it for Valentine’s Day! :).
Studies have shown when men consumed 3g daily for 8 weeks their sexual desire was heightened. It also is a good source of vitamin C, iron, copper, potassium and B vitamins. Note: Make sure to buy high quality maca. Look for the gelatinized powder as it removes anti nutrients and starches from the dried maca. You can also look for a maca tincture which eliminates the risk of molds.
Pomegranates! Pomegranates are phytochemical superstars. They have 2-3x the antioxidant power of green tea and are potent anti-inflammatory little gems. Pomegranates cause vasodilation in the body which increases blood flow, this helps with arousal :) and an added valentines benefit.
Easy, no bake dessert.
